The World Bank has expressed serious concern over the deteriorating relations between Georgia and its strategic partners, both domestically and internationally. Rolande Pryce, World Bank Regional Director for the South Caucasus, made the remarks in response to questions from BMG.
“We are extremely concerned about the deterioration of relations between the Georgian government and its strategic partners, both inside and outside the country,” Price said, while stressing that the World Bank does not interfere in Georgia’s internal political matters.
Price highlighted that the World Bank’s long-standing cooperation with Georgia, spanning more than 30 years, focuses on supporting the country’s development, economic stability, and macroeconomic achievements.
“Strategic partners have worked with the Georgian government to build its economy, to bring stability and the very strong macroeconomic situation in which it is currently in. But we, as the World Bank, cannot interfere in the legal and political issues of the country. We are here for development, and development issues remain relevant and important,” Price said.
She emphasized that the World Bank will continue to provide analytical support, funding, and expertise to strengthen Georgia’s competitiveness, sustainability, and the well-being of its population, ensuring that the country’s development achievements over the past three decades are preserved.
“We continue to work for the benefit of the Georgian people and to ensure that the development achievements that the country has made over the past 30 years are not diminished,” Price concluded.
