Infrastructure Minister Revaz Sokhadze said that ongoing road rehabilitation and landslide recovery works in Imereti and Racha-Lechkhumi are being actively monitored, following on-site inspections with representatives of the Roads Department, the Ministry of Regional Development, and local authorities. Sokhadze noted that efforts are underway to ensure safety and restore transport connectivity as quickly as possible.

Speaking in Sachkhere, where rehabilitation is underway on a nearly 28-kilometer section of the Gomi–Sachkhere–Chiatura–Zestaponi highway, Sokhadze said that the project includes full renewal of road infrastructure, installation of safety systems, drainage networks, and retaining walls. He added that temporary alternative roads are also being arranged to ensure uninterrupted movement for local residents during construction works.

The minister also highlighted landslide-related recovery works in several affected areas, including reinforced concrete retaining structures designed to stabilize road sections. In Oni municipality, he reviewed ongoing stabilization efforts near landslide zones and construction of a new bridge over the Rioni River, which will connect regional road networks.

Sokhadze acknowledged delays in one of the projects, stating: “We have a delay with one contractor; due to certain disruptions, the works are behind schedule, and specific deadlines have been set for them.” He added that in case of non-fulfillment of obligations, appropriate measures will be taken.
