The Winter Season For 2023-24 officially opened today in Gudauri. Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Mariam Kvrivishvili declared at the opening ceremony, that their expectations were positive for this winter season.

"We have very positive expectations for the current winter season due to the successful tourist season that our country has already had. Georgia has a consistent policy for strengthening and developing the tourism industry based on two main foundations.

The first involves the creation of a mountain ski infrastructure. As you know, since 2012, the Georgian government has invested more than GEL 800 million in the development of the infrastructure of mountain and ski resorts. We have 28 new ropeway complexes and more than 40 km of artificial snow tracks.

On the other hand, we see that investments from the private sector are growing, especially in accommodation facilities, and it is good that today there are more than 2,200 accommodation facilities in Gudauri, which increases employment opportunities in the mountainous region", said Mariam Kvrivishvili.

The deputy minister also spoke about the process of promoting Georgian winter resorts abroad and noted that marketing campaigns were actively underway in the target countries, including European ones.
