The head of the “Dona” pastry shop in Batumi says that this year the price of traditional Easter cakes has not increased, although the price change has affected their decorations. Tamila Bezhanidze told TV program “Women’s Narrative” while talking about the increased demand and trends for the Easter.
She notes that corporate orders for the pastry shop have decreased during this period and the main sales come from individual orders. The entrepreneur says that every year, more people are preparing for Easter, which also affects their business. Consumer demands are also diverse.
"For Easter, we are also making panettone. However, due to its peculiarities, unfortunately, we cannot produce it in series yet. In addition to the traditional Easter cake, we offer customers cottage cheese Easter cakes with colorful hearts. Among the Easter cakes, I would distinguish between undecorated and decorated Easter cakes, the demand for which is increasing from year to year.
We did not increase the prices of traditional Easter cakes this year. The price adjustment affected only the decoration part, which was due to reasons beyond our control and we hope that we will be able to do this in the coming years. We offer 2 types of Easter cakes at "Dona", 750-gram and 1450-gram. The cost of a 750-gram Easter cake without decoration is 15 GEL. And the price of a 1450-gram Easter cake is 30 GEL. However, we calculate the cost according to demand and decorate it accordingly.
Pre-Easter preparations are increasing from year to year. There was no demand before, but in recent years this trend has become more noticeable. Customers are now coming with their own ideas and are not limited to our offers," said the founder of "Dona".
