Chairman of the National Wine Agency of Georgia Levan Mekhuzla states that Russia's share in wine exports should decrease to 40% in the next five years, which now equals to 60% according to six months' data.
"Last year, wine exports to the USA increased by 16%. This year we have a very good marketing campaign as a partner, and I think the increase in exports to this market will become more visible. In general, we are working very diligently on other markets - Great Britain, Germany. Of course, Eastern European countries also stand out, I mean Poland and the Baltic countries. We think that Russia's share in wine exports will drop below 40% in about 5 years", says Mekhuzla.
According to him, the government plans to steadily sell 5 million bottles of Georgian wine annually on the US market by 2025. In six months of 2022, a total of USD 98 million worth of wine was exported from Georgia, of which 58% accounted for Russia.
