Tea Zakaradze, General Manager of TAV Georgia, says the company is in active negotiations with the Georgian government regarding the expansion of Batumi International Airport. She made the comment in response to journalists’ questions.
According to Zakaradze, the airport has reached its capacity limits and urgently requires expansion.
“We are holding negotiations with the Georgian government regarding Batumi, and we expect to finalize them within two to three months. The expansion of Batumi International Airport is planned. As you know, Batumi closed the year with 1,200,000 passengers, while the airport’s capacity is 1,400,000. Therefore, we urgently need expansion in Batumi as well. Work is underway, and we expect to have updates for you by March,” she said.
Earlier today, the government extended TAV Airports’ management contract for Tbilisi International Airport, part of the ADP Group, by five years, through 2031. Under the new agreement, TAV will invest $150 million in expanding Tbilisi Airport.
