GD Economy Minister Levan Davitashvili declares, that the transport, logistics and warehousing sectors are one of the most important directions in economic growth in recent years.
"The most significant growth has been recorded precisely in this direction in recent years. Among them, railway transportation is the main priority," - Davitashvili stated at a press conference held at the Government Administration.
According to the First Vice Prime Minister, the modernization project of the Georgian Railway will be completed in 2025, which will increase railway speed, safety and capacity. As a result of modernization, the capacity of Georgian Railways will increase to 48 million tons per year. According to him, all this provides an opportunity to further increase cargo turnover in the Georgian corridor and generate even more revenue, not only for the railway but also for the links involved in the logistics chain.
"We regularly meet with various international companies and discuss future prospects on how we can additionally and long-term secure new cargo in the Georgian corridor, on one hand, should increase its transit function and on the other hand, through improving infrastructure related to transport and logistics sectors, we should also enhance our export potential," - noted Levan Davitashvili.
