We refrained from meeting with these people for one simple reason - some of the members of this delegation were directly involved in the election campaign and they themselves grossly violated the election principles, - Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze said while talking about the chairmen of the Parliamentary Committees on Foreign Affairs of the 8 EU countries.

The Prime Minister of Georgia believes that the spirit of the visit of the heads of the foreign affairs committees of the 8 EU countries to Georgia does not serve the country's national interests.

"First of all, regarding this visit, you know what our position is. We refrained from meeting with these people for one simple reason - some of the members of this delegation were directly involved in election campaigning and grossly violated election principles. When those people talk to us about the legitimacy of the elections, who themselves violated the election principles, you can see for yourself what is the matter, and the society will, of course, evaluate it appropriately. You cannot violate the election principles yourself, do it in a rude manner and then talk about whether the election principles were violated during the organization of the elections. It was not appropriate to meet such people. There are people in this delegation who did not violate the election principles themselves, were not involved in the election campaign, however, in all cases, the spirit of this visit, unfortunately, does not serve the national interests of our country. They had a direct talk at the press conference, including about the change of government against the will of the people, actually they talked about it, this is not the attitude that a European politician should have towards a sovereign country. Therefore, our position towards this visit is appropriate", said Kobakhidze.

For information, the delegation of the chairmen of the foreign relations committees of the 8 EU countries has been holding meetings in Tbilisi since morning. The European MPs have already met with the President of Georgia, and later with the opposition. Their meeting with the non-governmental sector is also planned. It is known that "Georgian Dream" refused to meet with the delegation.
