The "Wings of Tatev" cable car, located in the Syunik Province of Armenia, has been nominated for one of the most prestigious international tourism awards, the World Travel Awards, for the third consecutive year. In 2024, it is once again vying for the title of "World's Leading Cable Car Ride," a recognition it previously won in 2021 and 2023.

This year, the Armenian attraction is competing with cable cars from Bolivia, Brazil, Vietnam, Canada, New Zealand, the USA, and South Africa. Voting will continue until October 20, 2024.

The "Wings of Tatev" is not just a tourist attraction but also a record holder, listed in the Guinness World Records as the longest reversible passenger cable car in the world. Additionally, it is noted for its record-breaking construction time of just 10 months.

Over 13 years of operation, more than one million people have used the cable car. Thanks to this unique site, tourist traffic to the Syunik region has increased 17-fold compared to 2010. Today, every fifth tourist visiting Armenia includes the "Wings of Tatev" in their itinerary.

The project is part of the "Revival of Tatev" program, initiated by Ruben Vardanyan and Veronika Zonabend. It is important to note that this is a non-profit initiative—all profits are directed toward the restoration of the Tatev Monastery and the development of the local community. The project is managed by Impulse Business Management.

The World Travel Awards, often referred to as the "Oscars of Tourism," was established in 1993. The award recognizes outstanding achievements in the travel and hospitality industry, with its winners regarded as benchmarks of quality service worldwide.
