Hotel occupancy in Kutaisi has declined significantly during the winter months over the past two years, making the hospitality business increasingly seasonal. Kristine Meskhadze, founder of Seven Doors and Boutique Apartment Signature, shared these concerns on BMGTV’s “Women’s Narrative” program.

According to Meskhadze, this summer was particularly successful, with both hotels reaching 100% occupancy. However, demand began to decline in the second half of September. She noted that, unlike two or three years ago, occupancy now remains very low from late autumn until mid-spring, leaving businesses struggling to survive and limiting their ability to offer all the services originally planned.

During the summer, international visitors accounted for 80% of Seven Doors’ guests, while local tourists made up the remaining 20%. The most common international visitors came from Poland, Germany, and Israel, with growing numbers from France and the Baltic states. To increase awareness and attract more Georgian guests during the low season, the hotel has begun working with well-known public figures.

Meskhadze also believes Kutaisi needs better infrastructure and a more effective tourism development strategy to encourage visitors to stay longer. She emphasized the importance of involving qualified professionals and making better use of the city’s tourism potential.
