Former Minister of Health, Zurab Azarashvili declares, that with the introduction of DRG system for clinics, the co-payment from the citizens hit a historical minimum, and the population has already saved GEL 170 million. According to him, under the conditions of strict state control, millions of GEL stolen from the budget have been returned.
Zurab Azarashvili published an extensive post on his official Facebook page, evaluating his 2-year activity as the head of the agency. Zurab Azarashvili writes that the introduction of DRG system was a great desire of all previous ministers for 30 years.
"In the first year, we were able to implement this system, which made transparent the actions of all dishonest players and brought all the details of the violation to the surface. That is why we initiated a change in the medical regulation law, which, unfortunately, was followed by even greater protests, because it significantly reduced the opportunity for some people to get rich at the expense of people's lives and budgets.
"After the introduction of DRG, the co-payment from the citizen's side hit a historical minimum amounting to 10%, and the population has already saved GEL 170 million. Under the conditions of strict state control, millions of GEL stolen from the budget have been returned," Azarashvili wrote.
In addition, he notes, that reference prices for drugs and purchasing oncological medicines directly from manufacturers, as well as the opening of the Turkish market have saved GEL 400 million in total.
