The Yerevan municipality announced the agreement between the Armenian capital and the Paris region of Île-de-France to launch a three-year cooperation program. This initiative covers a wide range of areas, including urbanization, transportation management, and waste management.
The announcement came in the context of a visit by a delegation from Yerevan to Paris, which took place from May 15 to 19 under the leadership of Mayor Tigran Avinyan. During a meeting with Avinyan, the chairman of the regional council of Île-de-France, Valérie Pécresse, emphasized the close partnership between the two capitals, highlighting the importance of this cooperation. "France has hosted a large number of Armenians after the Genocide, and therefore, we realize that we bear great responsibility," she said.
Members of the Armenian delegation also visited the architectural bureau of Jean-Michel Villemot, who presented them with conceptual proposals for two major urban development programs in Yerevan - the "Cascade" complex and the "Noragyugh" quarter. Representatives of the Yerevan municipality also visited the Transportation Management Center and the Planning Institute of the Paris region.
