Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan announced that by the end of 2024, the total amount of subsidies for the municipal institution 'Yerevan Bus' will reach $19.3 million (7.5 billion drams). This information was shared during a working meeting at the capital city's hall.
The director of CJSC 'Yerevan Bus,' Beglar Kirakosyan, clarified that since the beginning of the year, approximately $12.9 million (5 billion drams) has already been allocated from the city's budget. In the first five months of 2024, subsidies amounted to $8.4 million, with an additional $4.7 million allocated from June to the present. According to Kirakosyan's estimates, an additional $6.4 million will be required by the end of the year.
Plans for this year include equipping the entire city’s bus fleet with GPS systems. This will affect all 'Zhong Tong' buses, 200 'Higer' buses, and GazelCity minibuses. The GPS integration will allow the entire transport system to be integrated into the 'Yandex' platform for more efficient route tracking.
Kirakosyan also mentioned the pilot implementation of online monitoring and video surveillance systems for traffic. These measures will help identify issues, gather data on passenger flow, instances of speeding, and deviations from routes.
