You say that you are the national government, but all the monuments of national cultural heritage are in a deplorable state, - these are the words that the tour guide Ia Gotsadze addressed to the head of the National Tourism Administration, Maia Omiadze, during a meeting with the tourism sector.
The guide cited Signagi as an example and noted, that the Wall built by King Erekle in Signagi was in a deplorable state.
"You claim to be a national government, and you especially love King Erekle, but the Signagi Wall built by King Erekle is in a dire condition today. The iron railings are rusty, the lighting was installed very early, and it is also dangerous. What does it mean?
You claim to be a national government, but all the monuments of national cultural heritage are in a deplorable condition. We tell us that you are well-managed and will make the country prosperous, but the entire tourist infrastructure is destroyed. We tell us that everything will be fine, but we do not tell us how to solve the problems of basic tourist needs," the guide said at yesterday's meeting.
She also drew attention to the problem of public toilets, noting that the tourism administration is only trying to "encourage" them.
"I understand that you have a task now, that you have to encourage us and tell us that everything will be fine, because the regime needs it. But at least promise us that the toilets in the country will be fixed, that the cultural heritage monuments will be fixed," the guide added.
