Another Ambassador leaving Georgia is Carl Hartzel - the most important Ambassador these days, I would say when Georgian people are aspiring to the EU Candidate Country Status for Georgia and try to balance the Ruling Party which seems to be very into criticizing EU and its Ambassador to Georgia for not getting the EU candidate country status in line with Ukraine and Moldova, and having to work hard to satisfy all 12 preconditions for getting the status. This week was pretty hard to watch the Chief of the Ruling Party Irakli Kobakhidze and some Parliamentarians joining voices in criticizing Carl Hartzel.
As the EU's top diplomat in the country, Ambassador Hartzell oversaw the bilateral relationship between the EU and Georgia, and the work of the Delegation including political and economic affairs as well as cooperation. He represented the Presidents of the European Council and the European Commission and worked under the direct authority of the High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy in implementing the EU’s foreign policy.
