Employees of the National Forestry Agency revealed 68 facts of violations in February of this year. According to the agency, 67 of the violations were illegal logging and transportation of timber, of which 3 contained signs of a criminal offense. According to them, a total of 64 cubic meters of illegally logged timber of various types were seized across the country, which was to be stored in the agency's "business yards".

"Of the facts of illegal logging, 9 violations were detected by employees of the Kakheti Forestry Service, 16 - by employees of the Samtskhe-Javakheti, 7 - by employees of the Mtskheta-Mtianeti, 8 - by employees of the Imereti, 14 - by employees of the Guria, 3 - by employees of the Kvemo Kartli, 2 - by employees of the Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti, 2 - by employees of the Racha-Lechkhumi Kvemo Svaneti and 6 - by employees of the Shida Kartli Forestry Service.

Employees of the regional forestry services also detected 1 fact of arbitrary seizure of the State Forest Fund.

It is noteworthy that in January-February 2025, employees of the National Forestry Agency detected a total of 110 facts of illegal logging and transportation of timber throughout the country; The volume was 116 cubic meters.

In order to prevent violations, camera traps have been placed along the entire perimeter of the state forest managed by the National Forestry Agency, which, together with patrols by forestry service employees, allows for the detection of illegal use of natural resources," the National Forestry Agency reports.
