Vano Zardiashvili, CEO of the Georgian State Electrosystem, announced that all ongoing international and local energy projects in Georgia are expected to be completed within the next 2–3 years. Speaking after a meeting with energy sector representatives on March 9, he emphasized that all necessary permits and preliminary works for international projects are in place, making the construction processes irreversible.
Zardiashvili also noted significant progress on local projects, including the Liakhvi and Paliastomi grid interconnections, expected to be finalized within two years. The meeting, organized by the Georgian Renewable Energy Development Association (GREDA), included discussions on sector reforms, reducing bureaucracy, and cost savings achieved under new management.
According to Mariam Kvrivishvili, Georgia’s State Electrosystem will require €570 million over the next five years to connect 4,000 MW of capacity and acquire storage batteries.
