Apple Exports/Imports Down In 1Q23

Apple exports doubled in 1Q2023. According to Geostat, 4,752 tons of apples worth more than USD 3 million were sold from Georgia. While in 1Q2022, 4,752 tons of apples worth of USD 1.5 million were exported from the country.

If compared to the same period of 2021 (USD 3.7 million, 8 401 tons), apple exports decreased.

According to the official statistics, the main exporting market for apples is Russia and 96.8% of apple exports accounts for this country in 2023.

TOP-5 Exporting Countries In 1Q2023:

1. Russia - USD 2.9 million, 4 615 tons;
2. Armenia - USD 57 thousand, 48 tons;
3. United Arab Emirates - USD 18 thousand, 20 tons;
4. Azerbaijan - USD 12 thousand, 48 tons;
5. Kazakhstan - USD 7 thousand, 20 tons.

Apples were sold in the United Arab Emirates for the first time this year.

After 2020, apple imports are characterized by a decreasing trend. In the first quarter of this year, Georgia bought only 1,002 tons of apples worth $415,000. Georgia bought the largest amount of apples from Tukey.

1. Turkey - USD 278 thousand, 722 tons;
2. Ukraine - USD 93 thousand, 243 tons;
3. The Netherlands - USD 29 thousand, 17 tons;
4. Moldova - USD 14 thousand, 20 tons.
