Food security and expanding agricultural trade turnover were the key topics discussed during a meeting between Armenia’s Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan and Russia’s Minister of Agriculture Oksana Lut on November 15 in Yerevan.
The two parties explored prospects for scientific and technical cooperation and outlined ways to increase trade turnover in the agricultural sector between the two countries.
During the talks, the Armenian side emphasized the effectiveness of the existing partnership and highlighted the strategic importance of Armenian-Russian collaboration in the agricultural industry.
Earlier, BMG reported that Russia consistently maintains its leadership in trade volume with Armenia. From January to September this year, trade turnover with Russia nearly doubled, reaching over $9.7 billion. However, Armenian exports to Russia decreased by 15.5%, dropping from $2.8 billion last year to $2.4 billion in the first nine months of 2024, while imports from Russia surged 3.4 times to approximately $7.5 billion.
During the reporting period, Russia's share in Armenia's foreign trade structure also increased from 35.8% last year to 41.1%.
