On Tuesday, June 11, as part of the Armenian-American strategic dialogue, Armenia and the United States will sign a new agreement. This was announced by James O'Brien, Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs.

O'Brien noted that the cooperation between Armenia and the US is developing very rapidly. He emphasized that he is in Armenia to reaffirm the United States' strong support for bilateral relations. According to him, the people of Armenia have repeatedly demonstrated their commitment to reforms in recent years, and the government, led by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, has made significant efforts to implement reforms that facilitate the country's integration into the global economy and strengthen democratic freedoms.

The Assistant Secretary of State also mentioned that the work being done in various directions forms the foundation for future joint efforts.

“Today, our two countries will sign an agreement on customs information exchange. This will open up new opportunities for trade, simplify trade operations for businesses in the coming years, and it is also part of the commitments made in Brussels on April 5,” said James O'Brien.

It should be noted that James O'Brien is in Armenia from June 10 to 12. During his visit, he will meet with high-ranking government officials to discuss US support for advancing a peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan, including the use of the Alma-Ata Declaration as a basis for border demarcation.

Assistant Secretary O'Brien will also meet with representatives of the business community and civil society.
