According to Armenia’s Ministry of Economy, from January to October 2024, the imbalance between funds transferred to and received back from the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) budget exceeded $93 million.
Armenian Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan reported that in the first ten months of 202e, Armenia contributed $231 million in tax revenues to the EAEU budget, while receiving only $138 million in return.
As a result, Armenia’s negative balance with the EAEU reached $93.3 million. The minister noted that this figure was significantly higher in 2023, reaching $292 million, indicating a slight improvement in the balance of mutual settlements this year.
Armenia joined the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) in January 2015.
The EAEU guarantees the free movement of goods, services, capital, and labor and facilitates coordinated or unified economic policies. These measures are established under the EAEU Treaty of May 29, 2014, and related international agreements within the Union.
