Armenian Deputy Prime Minister Discusses Prospects of Deepening Cooperation within the EAEU with Iranian Ambassador

On Friday, August 16, Armenian Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan met with the Iranian Ambassador to Armenia, Mehdi Sobhani, according to the press service of the Armenian government.

During the meeting, key issues on the agenda of Armenian-Iranian bilateral relations were discussed, and the prospects for deepening cooperation within the framework of the EAEU were touched upon.

It was reported that the interlocutors also addressed regional processes.

Earlier, the Iranian Ambassador to Armenia, Mehdi Sobhani, told the Iranian agency SNN that the export of Iranian gas to Armenia would double in the near future. A year ago, Armenia and Iran extended the "Gas for Electricity" agreement until 2030. Annually, Tehran exports 360 million cubic meters of gas to Armenia, in exchange for which it imports electricity.

In the field of trade, the trade turnover with Armenia increased to $711 million in 2023. Every day, 400 trucks operate between Iran and Armenia.
