Armenia's domestic trade upped 14.5% in the first nine months of 2022 from the same time span of 2021 to over three trillion drams (in current prices) or US$ 7.9 billion, the National Statistical Committee reported.
It said in September 2022 alone, the domestic trade was up 20% from September 2021 to about 412 billion drams (US$1.1 billion). Compared to August 2022 the domestic trade was up 2.1%.
The retail trade amounted to over one 1.1 trillion drams (US$ 2.6 billion) or 38.4% of the total. The figure was up 2.1% from the first nine months of 2021.
The wholesale trade grew by 22.5% to over 1.7 trillion drams (US$4.4 billion) or 57.8% of the total. Sales of vehicles raised about 116 billion drams (US$ 301 million) growing by 47.8% year-on-year.
Stores accounted for 79.1% of the retail trade or about 916.5 billion drams (US$ 2.4 billion) showing 3.3% y-o-y growth. Consumer goods markets accounted for 4.1% of the total or about 48 billion drams (US$ 125 million) having slashed by almost 16%.
Farmer markets accounted for only 1% of the total or a little over 12 billion drams (US$ 31 million). Their share dropped by 10% from the first nine months of 2021.
Kiosk trade dropped by 10.1% to 1.5% of the total or 16.8 billion drams (US$ 44 million). Other trade outlets grew by 4.5% to about 167 billion drams (US$ 434 million) or 14.4% of the total, ARKA reports.
