Tbilisi City Hall has responded to the ongoing investigation into the alleged large-scale embezzlement by responsible persons at the metro rolling stock repair plant.
According to the municipality, the Internal Audit and Monitoring Service examined the maintenance and servicing expenses for vehicles and special equipment registered on the balance sheet of Tbilisi Transport Company, including metro cars. The compliance audit covered the 2023–2024 period and reviewed both internal and external services.
City Hall stated that the audit also examined the contract signed between Tbilisi Transport Company and the Tbilisi branch of JSC “Rolling Stock Repair Plant,” which concerned the modernization of 12 metro cars.
The municipality says that the review of materials raised several questions requiring further response. As a result, the documentation was forwarded to the Prosecutor General’s Office of Georgia for further action.
