The Georgian National Energy and Water Supply Regulatory Commission(GNERC) was granted the right to hold the largest energy forum in Georgia. GNERC will host the event in 2026. Commissioner Giorgi Pangani, presented the proposal of GNERC to host WFER IX in 2026 in Georgia at the 8th World Energy Forum held in Lima, Peru, which was highly rated by delegates from the energy sector of different countries. Chairman of the GNERC, Davit Narmania attended the forum.
During his speech, Giorgi Pangani introduced the main directions of the event planned in Georgia to the participants of the forum. He also focused on the importance of diversification of energy resources and development of green energy.
"In the conditions of high competition, GNERC was granted the right to hold the World Forum on Energy Regulation in Georgia, which is a great victory not only for GNERC, but also for the energy sector of Georgia and recognition of GNERC as a worldwide successful regulatory commission.
Regulatory bodies and energy policy-makers have a crucial role to play in promoting fair approaches, competition, innovation and standards for energy sustainability. Therefore, effective cooperation of all key players, sharing of knowledge and best practices is extremely important to ensure the continuous development of countries' energy directions", - noted Giorgi Pangani.
In 2026 more than 1,000 high-level delegates will visit Tbilisi within the framework of the World Energy Regulation Forum. In particular, the ninth World Energy Forum will be attended by representatives of 40 various countries, member states of the Energy Union, associations, government agencies, energy and donor organizations. The forum will discuss the current situation and challenges in the energy sector worldwide, investment issues and the role of renewable energies in the development of sustainable energy. One of the main topics at the forum will be Georgia's energy potential and investment environment.
The World Forum on Energy Regulation has been held every 3 years since 2000 under International Confederation of Energy Regulators (ICER). Along with various organizations, ICER members include: Council of European Energy Regulators (CEER), National Association of Utility Regulatory Commissions (NARUC), Regional Energy Regulators Association (ERRA).
