David Vardiashvili has been appointed as Director General of the Georgian Gas Transportation Company, according to the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development. His candidacy was presented by GD Minister Mariam Kvrivishvili.
Vardiashvili has served as First Deputy State Governor in Samtskhe-Javakheti since 2022 and previously held leadership roles in the Georgian State Electrosystem and the Georgian Oil and Gas Corporation. He also served as Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs (2016–2017) and held senior positions in the Emergency Situations Management Service and the Revenue Service.
Minister Kvrivishvili highlighted his extensive background in the energy sector, particularly in gas industry management, and expressed confidence in his ability to strengthen the company’s role. She also thanked the outgoing head for his contributions.
The minister emphasized the strategic importance of the Georgian Gas Transportation Company, which ensures the stable operation of Georgia’s main gas pipelines and supports the uninterrupted and safe supply of natural gas. She noted the company’s continued role in the state gasification program, launched in 2013, which aims to provide 93% of the country’s population with access to natural gas once completed.
“Thanks to the state program, natural gas has become available to settlements that were never gasified before. This has benefited households and also supported the growth of micro and small businesses, especially in the regions,” said Kvrivishvili.
The presentation of the new director was attended by Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Inga Pkhaladze.
