The Minister of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia, Givi Mikanadze, is attending the World Chinese Language Conference in Beijing on November 14–16. His participation follows an official invitation from China’s Education Minister, HUAI Jinpeng. According to the Georgian Ministry of Education, the conference brings together international delegates to discuss global trends in Chinese language education.

In his address at the opening ceremony, Mikanadze highlighted the steady development of friendly relations between Georgia and China, noting that this cooperation has a positive impact on education and science. He emphasized that Georgia plans to expand joint projects with China in education, research, and innovation. The minister also stressed that the conference offers a valuable platform for exchanging ideas aimed at improving national education systems.

The Ministry of Education underlined that cooperation between the two countries has intensified in recent years. One of the key achievements has been the bilateral agreement on the mutual recognition of higher education degrees and certificates, which aims to facilitate academic mobility and deepen institutional partnerships.

Work has also begun on developing a Chinese-language program for primary and basic school levels to support teaching Chinese as a second foreign language. Currently, Chinese is taught in 24 Georgian schools, including 13 public and 11 private institutions.
