Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze has stressed the importance of the planned reform of Georgia’s education system, describing it as a necessary measure that is slightly delayed. He highlighted that education is one of the country’s most pressing challenges and emphasized the need to provide children and future generations with opportunities for quality learning.

“The reform is very important, a little late, but the main thing is to implement it. Educated and skilled people are essential for the development and economic growth of our country,” Kaladze said, noting that the knowledge of educated citizens can continuously contribute to Georgia’s prosperity.

Kaladze also underscored the importance of public engagement in the reform process, saying that communication with citizens will continue as the education system evolves.

Yesterday, GD Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze presented the education reform plan, which includes creating only one faculty per state university, establishing a second major university hub in Kutaisi alongside Tbilisi, implementing an 11-year school program, and transitioning to a 3-year bachelor’s and 1-year master’s degree system.
