The temporary parliamentary commission established to study food, medicine, and fuel pricing held its first session.
The session was organizational, during which Shota Berekashvili was elected as the chairman of the commission, and Eka Sepashvili, a member of the political group “People’s Power”, was chosen as deputy chair.
Berekashvili said the commission will move into full working mode next week, summon representatives from the relevant sectors, and review existing challenges and possible steps to increase competitiveness, which will ultimately affect prices.
The 14-member commission includes:
- Georgian Dream: Shota Berekashvili, Nino Tsilosani, Maia Bitadze, Paata Kvizhinadze, Vakhtang Turnava, Zaza Lominadze, Gela Samkharadze
- For Georgia: Giorgi Sharashidze, Shalva Kereselidze, Ketevan Bakaradze
- People’s Power: Guram Macharashvili, Dimitri Khundadze, Eka Sefashvili
- European Socialists: Ilia Injia
The commission will operate for three months.
