"At this stage, we will keep the employees, but from January I will have to reduce their number by 50%," Levan Karalashvili, General Director of Tbilisi Central, told TV-Program Business Morning.
According to Karalashvili, it will take years for the company to return to the last year's sales.
"We have been operating on the market for 20 years, we have gone through three economic crises and this situation is not new for us, but it is accompanied by pandemic and a crisis in the healthcare system. Managing such processes requires a complex approach, which unfortunately we do not see, and it is all intertwined.
I would advise the leaders of our economic team to do more analysis, where are we by the figures? Shopping malls have been one of the most well-protected facilities until now. We know exactly what flows we have in recent years. We can boldly take responsibility for managing queues at the facilities," Karalashvili said.
According to Karalashvili, the daily turnover of the shopping malls amounts to 10 million. The longer the opening issue is postponed, the more losses the budget will have. Karalashvili notes, that the turnover of the industry is 1 billion in December.
