Georgia Earns $5.6 MLN From Animal Feed Exports in Five Months

Georgia exported $5.6 million worth of animal feed in the first five months of 2026, a 73.5% year-on-year increase, according to official trade data. A total of 9,261 tonnes of products were shipped abroad, with most exports consisting of feed for livestock and other animals rather than pet food. Feed for animals other than cats and dogs accounted for $4.6 million, while cat and dog food exports totaled $925,000.

Armenia remained the largest export market, purchasing $3.8 million worth of animal feed, followed by Uzbekistan ($813,000) and Azerbaijan ($717,000). Smaller export destinations included Kazakhstan, Iraq, Moldova, and Belarus. Georgia has been expanding its animal feed exports since 2019, with total exports reaching $10.3 million in 2025.

Despite export growth, Georgia remains a net importer of animal feed. During the first five months of 2026, imports rose 11.2% year-on-year to $22 million, totaling 13,946 tonnes. Pet food accounted for the largest share of imports at $12.4 million, while feed for other animals amounted to $9.5 million.

Turkey and Poland were Georgia's largest suppliers, followed by Italy, Spain, Belgium, France, Germany, Russia, Ukraine, and Portugal. In 2025, Georgia imported $54.3 million in animal feed, marking a 15.6% increase over the previous year.
