A new set of amendments in Georgia will regulate the import, export, production, and sale of pyrotechnic products through special permits and licenses.
These amendments, which include prohibitions and liability norms, were introduced at a Bureau session and will come into effect in stages, starting February 1, 2025, with further provisions applying from April 1, 2025.
Demonstrators will also be banned from possessing pyrotechnics during protests and pyrotechnics will be added to the list of prohibited items alongside firearms, explosives, and other dangerous substances.
A package of legislative amendments has already been initiated in Parliament.
A transitional period has been set for businesses and individuals already engaged in pyrotechnic activities. By March 1, 2025, they must align their operations with new regulations, ensuring compliance with the Technical Regulation on Pyrotechnic Products and apply for the necessary permits.
