The Ministry of Infrastructure has announced a tender to prepare design work for a 75-kilometer, four-lane highway in the Samegrelo region. According to the Roads Department, the new motorway will connect to the East-West Highway near Samtredia and aims to significantly improve regional connectivity.

The project is divided into three sections: Samtredia–Poti Junction (34.4 km), Poti Junction–Anaklia Junction (23 km), and Anaklia Junction–Zugdidi–Rukhi (19.3 km). Officials note that the 17-kilometer access road to Anaklia has already been designed.

The selected consultant will prepare detailed design documentation and provide limited author supervision during construction. The design period is set at 24 months. Only engineering firms with strong international experience will qualify, including a project leader with at least 15 years in major road engineering and similar expertise required for road and bridge engineers.

Eligible bidders must also demonstrate at least two completed contracts since 2015, each worth a minimum of USD 2 million and involving detailed design of motorways or expressways. Companies can submit proposals until February 24.
