Georgia's Ministry of Education has amended the rules governing the Post-School Education Preparation Program, which helps young people living in the country's occupied territories learn the Georgian language and prepare for higher education. The changes were introduced by ministerial order and mainly concern the program's enrollment procedures.
Under the amendments, provisions related to the state education grant have been removed following changes to Georgia's higher education funding model. The updated regulations also revise administrative procedures for submitting applications and remove the integrated bachelor's-master's teacher training program from the initiative.
Applications for the program must now be submitted between August 1 and September 5. Residents of the Tskhinvali region must apply through the offices of the State Representative in the municipalities of Gori, Kaspi, Kareli, or Khashuri, while applicants from Abkhazia must submit their applications electronically via the official website of the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia.
Only applicants who submit their applications within the established deadline and have not obtained the right to enroll in a higher education institution for the relevant academic year will be eligible. In addition, applicants must not hold active, suspended, or graduate student status in Georgia's Higher Education Management Information System.
