Georgian Railway has announced a GEL 7.4 million tender for the full rehabilitation of passenger platforms No. 2 and No. 3 at Tbilisi Central Railway Station. The project includes upgrading the platforms, improving passenger infrastructure, and renovating existing facilities.
The planned works include installing new platform coverings and drainage systems, as well as adding four new escalators — two for each platform — to improve passenger access and mobility. The rehabilitation project is expected to be completed within 12 months and will be carried out in stages.
According to project documents, the current platforms have several structural issues, including damaged reinforced concrete sections, inadequate surface water drainage, and construction defects. Georgian Railway had previously planned a similar rehabilitation project in 2024 with a GEL 4 million tender, but that procurement process was unsuccessful.
Companies participating in the tender must meet specific qualification requirements, including experience completing at least GEL 4.5 million worth of construction projects since 2023 and experience with large-scale projects. Bidders or subcontractors must also demonstrate experience in supplying and installing escalators. Tender applications will be accepted from August 13 to August 18.
