Georgia’s Dates Import Rise by 56% in First Four Months of 2026

Georgia imported 542 tonnes of dates worth $960,200 in January–April 2026, marking a 55.8% year-on-year increase, according to official statistics.

The average import price also rose. While one tonne of dates cost an average of $1,537 during the same period in 2025, the figure increased to $1,772 per tonne in 2026.

Middle Eastern countries remained Georgia’s main suppliers. Iran was the largest source, accounting for $492,000 worth of imports (357 tonnes), followed by the United Arab Emirates with $139,000 (66 tonnes) and Israel with $113,000 (63 tonnes).

Other supplying countries included Tunisia ($97,000; 31 tonnes), Jordan ($91,000; 15 tonnes), Turkey ($10,000; 3.4 tonnes), Germany ($5,000; 500 kg), the Netherlands ($3,800; 300 kg), Uzbekistan ($3,500; 3.4 tonnes), and Poland ($1,300; 200 kg).
