Georgia’s commodity imports totaled $9.04 billion in January–June 2026, marking a 0.7% increase compared with the same period last year, according to preliminary data from Geostat. Total foreign trade turnover reached $12.92 billion, while the negative trade balance stood at $5.17 billion.
Passenger cars remained the largest imported product category, with imports worth $1.6 billion, although the figure declined by 16.7% year-on-year. It was followed by petroleum products at $811.8 million (+34.6%) and medicines at $364.3 million (+8.5%).
Other major imported goods included natural gas and gaseous hydrocarbons ($290.5 million), crude oil and petroleum products ($202.2 million), telecommunications equipment ($147.9 million), and copper ores and concentrates ($122.5 million). Imports of semiconductors also rose sharply, increasing by 443% to $84.9 million.
According to Geostat, Turkey was Georgia’s largest import partner in the first half of 2026, with imports totaling $1.39 billion. It was followed by Russia with $1.19 billion and China with $1.07 billion.
