Georgia’s Local Exports Surge to $659.7 MLN in First Two Months of 2026 – Key Destinations and Goods

ადგილობრივი ექსპორტი

Georgia’s local exports – excluding re-exports – reached $659.7 million in January–February 2026, marking a 70% increase compared to the same period last year. The growth is largely driven by record petroleum product exports and increased shipments of copper and precious metal ores.

Local exports now account for 64.3% of total exports, the highest share for this period in recent years. The expansion is linked to the start of operations at the Black Sea Petroleum refinery in Kulevi, which became active in the last quarter of 2025. Following this, 96.6 million dollars’ worth of 225,300 tons of crude oil entered Georgia, allowing for domestic refining and export of petroleum products. Overall, total exports from Georgia during the first two months of 2026 reached $1.026 billion, up 22.9% from the same period in 2025.

Georgia’s top 10 export destinations accounted for 68.1% of local exports during the first two months. Among them, China and the United Arab Emirates saw significant increases, while Togo appeared in the ranking for the first time, with $19 million worth of petroleum products exported to the West African country.

In terms of goods, petroleum products led the surge, supported by the domestic refinery’s operations. Additionally, exports of precious metals and copper ores have increased, further boosting the country’s export performance.
