Michael Roth, Chairman of the Bundestag Foreign Affairs Committee, made a statement on the need to expedite the visa liberalization process between the European Union and Armenia. This statement was made on Thursday, September 19, during a press conference in Yerevan.
Roth emphasized the complexity of the visa liberalization process, noting that the European Commission, rather than individual EU member states, plays the primary role in this matter. He expressed hope that the newly forming European Commission would show greater interest in advancing this issue.
"I cannot make promises that I may not be able to keep, but I expect and hope that the new commission will be more engaged and vigorous in advancing the visa liberalization process for Armenia," the German politician stated.
Earlier, BMG reported that on September 9, Armenia and the EU announced the start of a dialogue on visa regime liberalization. The goal of this process is to support Armenia in establishing a visa-free regime for short-term travel to EU countries while ensuring the necessary conditions for effectively managed mobility and security.
