GD government forecasts a 200-250 thousand ton grape harvest this year under the “Vine 2025” program. GD Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze announced the projection ahead of the government session.
According to him, viticulture and winemaking remain strategic sectors for the state, and support measures introduced in previous years will continue this season.
The state-owned Harvest Management Company will purchase grapes at differentiated prices:
- Saperavi from Kakheti – GEL 1.50 per kg
- Rkatsiteli and other permitted varieties – GEL 1.20 per kg
- Substandard/damaged grapes – GEL 1.00 per kg
“The approach that has been in effect in previous years will continue, which is very important for supporting viticulture and winemaking. This year, the forecast grape harvest will be 200-250 thousand tons, and to ensure the harvest is collected on time, the Harvest Coordination Headquarters is working 24/7. I would like to thank Minister Davit Songhulashvili for the proper organization of the harvest-related work,” Kobakhidze said.
Notably, this year, subsidies will no longer be issued to private wine companies in Kakheti. Instead, the state enterprise will manage the collection and processing of surplus grapes under the new rules.
