In Armenia, the birth rate decreased and the mortality rate increased in the first quarter of 2024

In January-March 2024, 8,059 children were born in Armenia, which is 8.4% less than the same period last year.

According to the Statistical Committee of Armenia, during the same period, the number of stillbirths increased by 17.5%, reaching 114.

At the same time, the number of deaths in the country increased for the first quarter of 2024. The total number of deaths was 7,104 people, which is 4.9% more than in the same period in 2023.

Meanwhile, the natural population growth decreased by 53%, reaching 955 people.

Earlier, BMG reported that as of April 1, 2024, the population of Armenia reached 3,039,700 people, exceeding the 3 million mark for the first time in a long time. Over the past year, this indicator has increased by 3.3%, which is 98,200 people.
