According to the Azerbaijan Ministry of Energy, 0.5 billion cubic meters of gas were imported to Georgia in January-February 2025. According to the ministry, a total of 8.1 billion cubic meters of gas were produced at the beginning of the year, and almost half of this was exported.
Traditionally, the largest volume of gas was sold to Europe, where the volume of exports has been increasing significantly in recent years. In January-February, 1.9 billion cubic meters of gas were sold to Europe, 1.4 billion to Turkey, and 0.5 billion cubic meters to Georgia.
Azerbaijan is the main supplier of gas to Georgia, which in previous years met approximately 80% of total consumption. According to the Minister of Energy of Azerbaijan, Parviz Shahbazov, in 2024, 2.4 billion cubic meters of gas were exported to Georgia. This is 100 million m³ below the 2023 figure. It is worth noting that imports of Azerbaijan gas to Georgia have been decreasing in recent years.
