Georgian Ministry of Infrastructure has successfully surpassed its first-quarter goals for 2026, with spending reaching approximately 442 million GEL, exceeding the initial budget by 124%. Minister Revaz Sokhadze highlighted that this strong performance lays the foundation for even more ambitious projects in the upcoming months, especially in the second and third quarters when major infrastructure projects are set to begin.
According to the Ministry, the state budget for the first three months of 2026 was also overachieved, completing 107.4% of the target, with 30.5 million GEL in surplus. The cash expenditure for the state budget reached 441.3 million GEL, exceeding the planned 410.8 million GEL.
Sokhadze attributed this success to the active efforts of the Ministry, stating, "We are actively working on various programs and projects that we announced at the beginning of the year. We hope there will be no issues in this regard. We will strive to ensure that all infrastructure work aimed at improving the country's infrastructure progresses as quickly and efficiently as possible."
In addition, other agencies under the Ministry’s management also exceeded their targets for the first quarter. The Road Department allocated 281.1 million GEL (111% of the plan), the Municipal Development Fund of Georgia spent 119.3 million GEL (100% of the plan), and the United Water Supply Company of Georgia invested 39 million GEL (108% of the plan).
The Road Department noted that the strong first-quarter results indicate a transition to the active phase of infrastructure work. Currently, 85 state-funded projects are underway across the country, focusing on road rehabilitation, disaster response, and coastal protection. Eleven projects were completed in the first quarter, and the results are already available to the public.
One of the key achievements of the first quarter was the completion of 124% of the planned budget for major road construction, with 149.6 million GEL spent. Notable ongoing projects include the completion of four sections of a new highway, including the 6 km Samtredia-Grigolati and 3 km Grigolati-Kobuleti sections, as well as the Sagarejo-Badiauri and Gudauri access roads, which are expected to be completed later this year.
The United Water Supply Company of Georgia is also continuing to work on over 100 projects across the country, with more than 2 billion GEL allocated for these efforts. Thanks to state and financial institution support, over 300,000 beneficiaries will enjoy improved water supply systems once the projects are completed.
