Georgia's higher education system is in an "unsatisfactory" state, Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said, announcing that the government will complete its higher education reform within the planned timeframe.
Speaking to journalists, Kobakhidze said the government has developed a comprehensive reform strategy aimed at improving the quality of higher education and making more efficient use of existing resources.
A key principle of the reform is "one city, one faculty," under which academic faculties have been redistributed among state universities. According to the prime minister, the restructuring is intended to optimize the use of limited resources and strengthen academic institutions.
Kobakhidze said the reform, including recent institutional changes at state universities, will be completed on schedule and is expected to provide Georgian students with a significantly higher standard of higher education.
