GD Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze emphasized the government’s commitment to accelerating economic growth and addressing longstanding challenges in the energy and infrastructure sectors during a speech at the Georgian Business Association conference.

According to Kobakhidze, certain areas, particularly the energy sector, have faced difficulties over the years, including the resale of permits and other irregular practices. He assured that these issues will be resolved to provide maximum comfort for companies operating in the sector.

“We had a certain slowdown in the energy sector, and such trends have been observed for several years. There were wrong practices in many areas, among which the main problem was the resale of permits. We promise that we will solve all these problems so that companies in the energy sector can successfully implement projects,” Kobakhidze said.

GD Prime Minister also highlighted international cooperation as a driver of economic growth. He mentioned a recent visit from the United Arab Emirates, where Georgia agreed to a USD 6.6 billion investment by EMAAR Group and Eagle Hills. Other joint initiatives were also discussed.

In addition, Kobakhidze spoke about improving infrastructure project quality. He said meetings with business representatives focused on ensuring fair competition, cost-effectiveness, and high-quality project implementation. He thanked Minister Revaz Sokhadze for his role in advancing these goals.

“Our task is to further accelerate the pace of economic growth. Despite being first in the region and Europe in terms of growth, there is potential to do more, and we will do our best,” Kobakhidze concluded.
