Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said foreign direct investment (FDI) may decline in a particular quarter, but the government is more interested in the total volume of investment over the full year. He made the remarks in response to a question from BMG.
“Statistics can vary from quarter to quarter. Ultimately, let’s look at the average annual figures together and draw conclusions based on them. Let’s assess it at the end of the year,” Kobakhidze said.
Georgia received $750 million in FDI in the first half of 2026, down by 21%, or $210 million, from the same period of 2025. In the first quarter, FDI amounted to $281 million, 19.7% below the revised figure for Q1 2025.
In the second quarter of 2026, preliminary data show that FDI reached $468.8 million, down by 23.2% compared with the revised figure for Q2 2025.
