Container cargo turnover in Poti Port has increased dramatically. According to the data of "APM Terminals Poti", more than 0.5 million containers were processed in 10M2023. More specifically, in January-October, Poti seaport processed a total of 509,831 units of containers, which was 77% more compared to the figure of 2022.
This year, Poti Port received 284 container ships, while 173 ships entered the port for the same period last year. As for the number of processed vehicles, the port served more than 69,000 cars.
"According to APM Terminals, against the background of increased demand, emphasis is placed on container cargo services, which is in line with their security policy, for this reason, the volume of general bulk cargo in the port has decreased. 282,886 tons of bulk cargo were processed in 10 months, the decrease was 51%.
The increase in container cargo is a very good signal for our corridor. We want to promote container shipping, it is more environmentally friendly, there is an opportunity to develop railway lines in this direction, and we will connect Central Asia with Europe and the rest of the world with container shipping", said Zviad Chkhartishvili, director of the commercial relations of "APM Terminal Poti" during a visit to TV-program "Business Course"
