Nine years have passed since the establishment of the State Security Service. Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze and Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili wished a happy professional holiday to Chief of the State Security Service Grigol Liluashvili and its every employee.

The Head of Government emphasized the “special role” of the State Security Service in the identification and prevention of threats facing the country, also thanking each employee of the service for contributing to maintaining peace and stability in the country.

“Numerous far-reaching changes, and reforms have been carried out in the service since inception. Ultimately, the service has shaped into a robust structure protecting the safety of our country’s population and effectively safeguarding our state sovereignty. The service’s personnel boast high professionalism and patriotism. It is a special honor to stand guard over state security. It should be credited directly to you that over the past few years, especially after the start of the Russia-Ukraine war, risks possibly conceived by destructive forces both at home and abroad have been successfully prevented. We are a small country. We are forced to exist in a most complex region, and the regional context has grown exceptionally complex today. Consequently, we will continue setting our hope in you, that you will ensure state security as effectively as you have in the course of the past years,” the Prime Minister stated.

Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili avowed commitment to promoting the empowerment and development of the State Security Service, also thanking the service’s leaders and personnel for their efforts toward maintaining peace and stability in the country.

To mark the service’s anniversary 380 employees of the State Security Service were awarded.

Later today, Chief of the State Security Service Grigol Liluashvili awarded Interior Minister Vakhtang Gomelauri and Chairman of the Parliamentary Defense and Security Committee Alexandre Tabatadze.
