Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze, says that the rehabilitation of Rustaveli Avenue will likely begin in May, which will be completed by the end of summer. He announced this at the Tbilisi Municipal Government meeting.
"As you know, we are planning to renovate Rustaveli Avenue. The road is deteriorating and in poor condition, with frequent damages. We will probably begin implementing the rehabilitation project in May and want to complete it entirely by the end of summer," stated Kakha Kaladze.
Tbilisi City Hall announced 4 tenders with a total value of 28,440,411 GEL on December 24, 2024. Within the framework of the announced rehabilitation of Rustaveli Avenue. The submission of proposals ended on January 14.
Due to the absence of bidders, the 8.7 million tender failed, which included rehabilitation of the road section from Al. Chavchavadze Street to Z. Chichinadze Street.
Also, for the same reason, a tender of 6.8 million for the rehabilitation of the road section from Z. Chichinadze Street to Freedom Square has failed.
As for the tenders of the 4.3 million [rehabilitation of the road section from T. Chovelidze Street to Rustaveli metro station] and 8.4 million [rehabilitation of the section from Rustaveli metro station to Al. Chavchavadze Street], the only bidder was LLC DIN Group. Currently, the selection/evaluation process is ongoing.
Kakha Kaladze said that there were certain inconsistencies in two tenders, which prevented companies from participating.
"However, they will be held again, and we will have winning companies," noted Kakha Kaladze.
