Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture Levan Davitashvili declares, that technical regulation on Poultry Meat Marketing will come into force on October 20 and it will not be delayed.
“When we took decision to postpone the regulation, it was a difficult period for coronavirus, when various countries restricted exports. In this case, it was vital for us to ensure the food security of our country and avoid shortage of any important food products. It was a responsible decision.
Then there was speculation from local producers that someone’s interests were being lobbied and so on. Now, we are not planning to delay anything, we do not see any restrictions on the world market. There are two groups. One group blames us for why it has happened, noting that it is wrong, while the other is a group of importers declaring that shortage of poultry meat should not be created on the market. Of course, there will not be shortage, there will be fair trade. So, the government will not revise the decision," Levan Davitashvili said.
To remind, Part of the importers predict a shortage of poultry meat in Georgia. The technical regulation on Poultry Meat Marketing will come into force on October 20, which imposes various obligations on the business.
